Location: Thornton Creek House. Seattle, WA
Instrument: Tenor saxophone

Notes:

This improvisation made use of a variety of multiphonics, each of which contained a unique, complex web of harmonic color and wave length oscillation. These multiphonics were then set against one another to create varying layers of color.

Notes:

During this improvisation I was interested in exploring bending, peeling, pulsating textures in quarter-tones and tempered turning, all with an underpinning of a blues-link feel.

I was fortunate to stay for 3 nights in Billings, Montana in the home of friends of ours. I had a comfortable space in which to sit, think, sleep and practice. This improvisation was documented towards the end of a long practice session.

Location: The stairwell in Chicago, Illinois
Instrument: Tenor saxophone

Notes: (Documented while traveling in the Fall, 2015 Bad Luck duo national tour).

This improvisation was recorded at the base of a long stairwell that led to tonightâs performance venue in Chicago. The door behind me open a portal into the chaos of an urban environment at night. The stairwell provided a refuge.
